John can make a rice-sack look sexy: Jacqueline

The actress gets candid with Madhureeta Mukherjee on various issues

She has Khan (Sajid) to direct her on-screen, and romance her off-screen. Sri-Lankan actress, Jacqueline Fernandez , who is four films old, is looking to make it big Bollywood. She talks to zoOm about the industry's stereotypes, making it sans a Godfather, and the 'other' men she's waiting to romance. Read on...

From a sultry bombshell in Murder 2, to a bride-to-be in Housefull 2... l It's very easy to get stereotyped in this industry. I wouldn't have been able to get out of the 'sexy' image if it weren't for Housefull 2. After Murder 2, I rejected many roles which required me to be a sex siren.

Do you think actresses get stereotyped much more than actors? Absolutely. But luckily, we're now getting our due. Vidya Balan has hit Bollywood like a hurricane. I feel liberated just talking about her. And then there's Kareena, who's demanding her worth. These women have taught the industry a lesson.

Would it be easier if you had a godfather? A godfather would have made things easy but I don't know for how long. People are ready to take credit for your success and abandon you in times of trouble. I want to take credit for my own success and blame for my failures.

You have two films with John this year... John's very sweet. On one hand, he can make a rice sack look sexy, and on the other, he's polite and a perfect gentleman; the kind of boy you can take home to daddy. We have Race 2; hope it makes us the 'IT' on-screen couple."

You've been fairly guarded about your life... What makes an actor and actor is the work s/he does. You can run around naked or shout from rooftops, but at the end of the day, it's good performances that will get you more work.

Kareena postpones Bhansali's shoot

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is very particular when it comes to the first day shoot of his films. Without exception, the director has flagged off all his films with a dance sequence by his leading lady, which usually runs into three to four days.
Be it Manisha Koirala in Khamoshi, Aishwarya Rai in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Sonam Kapoor in Saawariya or Aishwarya again in Guzaarish; all actresses have strictly adhered to Bhansali's signature style (call it a quirk), although it may not have been convenient at times.
However, Kareena Kapoor, who is the heroine (Leela) of Bhansali's much talked about next Ram Leela, is proving to be an exception to the norm. The actress, who has to perform an intricate classical item, has asked the director to postpone her dance sequence, originally slated for July 21, by at least six months. And, the otherwise obstinate Bhansali has been compelled to give in to Bebo's demands.
Reportedly, Kareena told Bhansali she would rather enroll with a trainer for the complicated classical sequence he had in mind. Apparently, the actress is a tad nervous given the complex nature of the dance which is possibly why she has asked the director for more time.
Bhansali though has been left with little option. "What could he do? He knows Kareena wants the best for the film. He reasoned out with her but she stuck to her guns. She had her reasons. She told him clearly that the dance he wanted her to perform was something that would appear really beautiful on celluloid but she didn't want to do a hurried job and make a hotch-potch of it," a source close to the project told Mirror.
The source added, "He cannot go with the original plan now. The details of the first day have been revised."Meanwhile, Bebo is readying to start her professional training for the number.

Rowdy Rathore heads to Alleppy

The scenic backwaters of Alleppy, Kerala, can't help but attract one and all. It has been just a month since the team of the multi-lingual film David left the banks of Alleppy, and there is yet another Bollywood film unit heading this way.
The next one in line is Rowdy Rathore. The film, being directed by Prabhu Deva, stars Akshay Kumar in the title role. Rowdy Rathore is a remake of a Telugu film called Vikramarkudu, and will see Akshay play
a double role.
"The team is looking at shooting in Alleppy on April 28 and 29. They are looking at shooting extensively at the backwaters. The dates are subject to slight changes though," says a source close to the production unit.

Priyanka Chopra has been signed Zanjeer for a reported 9 crore.

Priyanka Chopra has been signed Zanjeer for a reported 9 crore. Trade sources confirm this is the highest remuneration for a Bollywood actress.

Says our source, "The top four B'wood actresses - Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone - get paid something between 2.5 to 4 crore depending on the producer, the script and the project. Of course, exceptions are made when there is desperation to bring an actress on board."

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan got a reported 5.5 crore for Robot because Rajinikanth wanted no other and Kareena Kapoor, something to the tune of 6 for Heroine, because Ash left the producers at the crossroads. Producer Ratan Jain says, "Even though actresses are becoming more and more important to the scheme of things in B'wood, Vidya Balan being the prime example, they remain comparatively underpaid."

Kareena and Priyanka have an added advantage of 'superstar value' because their movies 3 Idiots, Bodyguard and Agneepath are among the top five highest grossing movies of all time.

However, all actresses must currently bow to Vidya Balan, who has had such a fantastic run at the box office with Ishqiya, Paa, No One Killed Jessica, The Dirty Picture and Kahaani. She is getting filmmakers to look at women independently as box office draws as opposed to just being arm candy for the men.

Priyanka's spokesperson confirmed the actress had signed Zanjeer for a handsome fee, but refused to confirm the amount.
